If you don’t know Tech Open Air, you should! Especially if you are of the belief that innovation and creativity in tech stems from being exposed to cultural disciplines like art and music.
TOA is where all the disciplines really come together.
Tech Open Air is Europe’s leading interdisciplinary technology festival which took place last week in Berlin. Sherpa was selected to pitch at the Future Finance competition. Being selected, out of several hundred fintech startups, was a big deal and we therefore, scrambled to find flights and get our 3-minute pitch ready for the event.
The first day at TOA was intriguing.
20,000 attendees including 1,200 CEO’s and founders resulted in a mixture of cutting-edge tech startups and mindful sessions.
There were quadcopters for personal transport. A music gym that plays tunes while you work out and an amazing gin bar that, well did what it said on the tin, served awesome gin and tonics.
Day one was a good day!
Everyone did a great job and battled the sharp change in the weather as our open air pitch became more of a shiver.
Ton van ‘t Noordende (@noordende), Partner at Keadyn moderated the panel of esteemed judges including Aman Ghei (@amanghei ), Principal at Orange Growth Capital; Christian Nagel, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Earlybird; Maximilian Tyenthal, Founder and CEO at NUMBER26 and Tugce Ergul, Co-Founder at Angel Labs.
After a great deal of deliberation, Sherpa was chosen as the winner!
Presenting and getting support at these events is a testament to how much the industry needs to change.
TOA proved that it’s not just the insurance geeks but also the startup tech community who are interested in supporting Sherpa to disrupt the Trillion £ industry of insurance.
